2011 Challenge - Week One
January 02, 2011
It is never a good idea to start an Eat less, Move More challenge right after the New Year celebrations and having those celebrations fall over a weekend. No wonder America's nunber one New Year's resolution, getting fit, is the one resolution most people will fail at.
But never mind.
Here is my Week One posting. Because this is the very first post for week one, I start off with my vital stats (cringe) for maximum public humiliation.
Age: 40 1/2 years.
Height: 5' 4"
Weight: 160lbs. (Met and exceeded beached whale status... and not even a killer whale!)
Waist measurement: 37 3/4" (Groan. I've lost my waist, I can no longer see my toes while standing up, I can't find my hip bones. ARGGGH)
Ultimate end goal (to reach by 12/31/2011):
1. Lose 20 - 30 lbs
2. Eat healthy - which for me is to be eating rabbit food at least once a day.
3. Exercise at least 3 times a week.
Week One Goal:
Eat Less:
Maintain a photo food diary.
I am the biggest culprit for stealth snacking/ inhaling. I am extremely good at underestimating what and how much I consume. So for week one I am going to monitor everything I eat and drink. Nutritionists call this keeping a food diary. My twist? I am going to photograph every piece of food and drink that will make its way into my system. At the end of the week I will have a visual reminder of that week's eating.
Move More:
At work I will go to the 3rd floor restroom instead of the one on my floor. At home, I will do squats through the commercial breaks of any TV/ movie I happen to be watching.
Bonus:
No morning Starbucks for the entire week. (I order a venti, skinny, extra hot, Chai latte every morning.) I am thinking I'll cut down on Starbucks, and at $4.22 a pop I'll save $21.10 for the week.
